A useful example for me is the "100 Greatest Songs of Rock & Roll" by Hal Leonard. In the current format, it would have helped if a CD were included. As a two month beginner, the "easy guitar" book was not as helpful as I expected it to be. It did not include tablature along with the notes nor effective strum patterns.
I recommend this book if you are beginning guitar or maybe in between beginning and intermediate or if you just like John Denver's songs. Some of the other songs were different also. Overall this is a good book, but doesn't exactly match the recorded versions of some of the songs, probably because this book is labeled easy guitar, the chords used in this version are easier to form. I think from a book I had years ago and now with all the moving can't locate, that Rocky Mountain High was originally played with a capo on the first fret.
Comparing several of the scores in this book with the actual music from John Denver's albums it appears quite inaccurate. In fact in several places (for example the score for Fly Away) entire parts are missing (especially the lead in and extro parts) and some measures that should be rests for guitar instead show parts that belong to the violin accompaniment.Still nice as a starting point for your own versions of his music, but not to be taken as an accurate rendition.
Still for a John Denver fan it has most of what you would want, especially if you wing the songs like me. And they did not put in Sweet Surrender which is one of John's best songs. A combination of super easy chords and a good mix of songs. Some songs the chords seemed overly simplistic.
tks johnny what made me look to amazon.com, is the ease of purchase in the past, have never been disapointed with amazon. customer service, most be your top priority.
